The Breath of Redemption: His Redemptive Waters and Blood – Breath Prayer

Yoga Devotions – Breath Prayer

“The Breath of Redemption: His Redemptive Waters and Blood”

Inhale: “Jesus, incarnate Savior,”

Exhale: “Your water and blood redeem.”

Inhale: “Jesus, incarnate Savior,”

As you inhale, you breathe in the name of Jesus, the Son of God who took on human flesh, becoming incarnate for our salvation. This phrase acknowledges the profound mystery of the Incarnation, where the eternal Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). Jesus, fully God and fully human, entered into our world, experiencing the joys and sorrows, temptations and triumphs of human life. By breathing in the name of Jesus, we invite his presence into our being, recognizing him as the source of our hope, strength, and salvation.

Exhale: “Your water and blood redeem.”

As you exhale, you release the phrase acknowledging the significance of Jesus’ baptism and sacrificial death. “Your water” points us to the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist in the Jordan River, and to our baptism as a means by which Jesus fulfills his role as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29).

“Your blood” refers to the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross, where he shed his blood as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Through his death, Jesus paid the penalty for our sins, reconciling us to God and offering forgiveness and redemption to all who believe in him. We receive this forgiveness through baptism.

By breathing out this phrase, we affirm our belief in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. We acknowledge that it is through his baptism and his bloodshed on the cross that we find forgiveness, salvation, and new life. We release our burdens, sins, and shortcomings, trusting in the sufficiency of Jesus’ sacrifice to redeem and renew us.
Overall, this breath prayer invites us to center our hearts and minds on the essential truths of the Christian faith—the Incarnation and Atonement of Jesus Christ. It encourages us to breathe in the presence of the incarnate Savior and to exhale our trust in his redeeming work, finding comfort, peace, and renewal in his love and grace.

Yoga Devotions – Breath Prayer for 20240424

“Breath of Victory: Meditations on 1 John 4:4”

Yoga Devotions – Breath Prayer

“Breath of Victory: Meditations on 1 John 4:4”

1 John 4:4 (ESV) 4 … for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

**Breath In**: “He who is in me,”

**Breath Out**: “Is greater than the world.”

### Explanation:

1. **”He who is in me”**:

   – This phrase refers to the presence of Christ within believers. It echoes the profound truth expressed in various Scriptures, such as:

     – Galatians 2:20 (ESV): “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”

     – Colossians 1:27 (ESV): “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

     – John 14:20 (ESV): “In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.”

   – When we breathe in this phrase, we are inviting a conscious awareness of Christ’s presence within us. It’s a reminder that as believers, we are not alone; Christ dwells within us by His Spirit.

2. **”Is greater than the world”**:

   – This part of the breath prayer emphasizes the supremacy of Christ over the world and all its challenges. It echoes Jesus’ words in John 16:33 (ESV): “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

   – The “world” in this context represents everything that opposes God’s kingdom—sin, darkness, trials, and temptations.

   – Exhaling this phrase is a declaration of faith, asserting that Christ’s presence within us is more powerful, more significant, and greater than any obstacle or difficulty we encounter in the world.

This breath prayer is a simple yet profound practice that engages our whole being—body, soul, and spirit—in the truth of Scripture. It invites us to breathe in the reality of Christ’s presence within us and exhale a confident affirmation of His supremacy over all things. Through this prayer, we cultivate a deeper awareness of His indwelling Spirit, gain confidence in His victory, prepare for spiritual battles, and live each moment in the assurance of His strength.
